High altitude M-55 Geophysica aircraft enables the Earth surface exploration using electronic equipment with the lateral range up to 300 km.

HIGH ALTITUDE,   SUBSONIC,   SINGLE-SEAT
Aircraft M-55 Geophysica is capable to fly in any geographic latitude in visual and instrument meteorological conditions.

M-55 Geophysica aircraft is a modification of M-17 Stratosphera aircraft by which 25 world records have been set up. The aircraft structure embodies all achievements of M-17 that provide highly efficient performance of this new high altitude aircraft.

M-55 "Geophysica" In 1993 M-55 Geophysica aircraft set up 16 world records. Since 1996 one aircraft is operated in the international program on stratosphere research, APE (Airborne Polar Experiment).

M-55 Geophysica aircraft may be used to perform any types of the Earth surface monitoring, instrumental research of stratosphere, geographical mapping, search for expeditions in distress, hail-damage control, monitoring of borders and economic zones, flight testing of satellite equipment and other similar missions.

For research purposes the aircraft in version of the air platform enables the remote multi-spectral sensing of the Earth surface in various electromagnetic bands with coverage up to 120 km.

The aircraft carried out the planet atmosphere researches with flight radius 1500-1700 km:

  • in May 1994- from Berlin;

  • since December 1996 till January 1997 - from Rovaniemi (Finland), from where the aircraft flew up to New Land, to the West almost up to Greenland;

  • since February till March 1999 the aircraft participated in investigation of atmosphere anomalies over the Indian Ocean flying from Victoria aerodrome , from the Seychelles;

  • since September till October 1999 from Ushuaia aerodrome (Argentina) where the "ozone hole" over Antarctic was investigated.

Within the coming years the following missions for stratosphere researches are planned:
   -
September 2001 - from Forli aerodrome (Italy);

   -
since January till March 2002 - from Kiruna aerodrome (Sweden);

   -
June 2002 - from Forli (Italy) and Kiruna (Sweden) aerodromes;

   -
December 2003 ãîäà- from Darvin aerodrome (Australia).
